Iain Lee Has Left Absolute Radio

I found out tonight through the Iain Lee Facebook page that Iain had left Absolute Radio through mutual consent with the station.

It's a real shame - it was a great phone in radio show and while it recently hadn't hit the heights of it's glory days back in 2009-2010, it was still a fantastic listen and even in the past couple of weeks was on a real roll with a lot of old favourites such as Barry from Watford and Vinny on superb form.

I may be reading more into this than I should, but I always got the impression that Iain really didn't like Absolute Radio's breakfast show host and poster boy, Christian O'Connell. I never liked his show much myself but perhaps Iain overstepped a line by bad mouthing the station's biggest draw.

It then occurred to me what a lot of really top quality radio shows there were on air only a few short years ago - all of them gone (at least for now) Jonathan Ross on Saturday morning Radio 2 and Russell Brand on the same station on Saturday nights were fantastic. Adam and Joe's 6 Music show on a Saturday morning made a brief comeback this year, but is sorely missed by myself and their fans. It was truly first class. Perhaps Iain could find a new home at 6 Music? It had certainly been well suited to Adam and Joe as well as Russell Brand.

Ah well all things must pass - I was actually listening to a podcast of the show on the train on the way home from work when I read the news on Facebook..I only hope Iain returns to late night radio very soon. As stated previously, he was on top form over the past couple of weeks really bouncing of the guests he had in the studio such as Joe Wilkinson and Rhys Thomas.

There really is only one thing left to say; Pradddeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
